Looking for a job

Well, I'm in full job-hunt mode now. That dosen't mean I'm necesasarily trying to get out of here, but I really need to have a job lined up when its time to come home. If I have to cut my time here short to do so, so be it. Right now I'm looking everywhere I can. If anyone has some really hot tip, since I know you all keep your ear to the ground of the culinary scene, let me know. I'll keep you updated.

Update: I forgot. I have seen Ratcliffe before, when we were there in '96. But Bill, the lizard with a ladder, remains sadly unaccounted for.

What happened to Colorado

Maybe it's been the last three years of success in Minnesota, but I haven't talked much about my OTHER team, the Rockies. Here's an interesting article on their shift to irrelevance.

“ What I feel like in my job is I'm not living a lie anymore. In your heart, when you're doing something and you know you should be doing something else, you feel like you're living a lie. ”
— Dan O'Dowd, Rockies GM, on deciding to build the franchise by developing young players

Personally, I think they should just say screw the critics and go back to what brought them in the first place- Five guys hitting thirty plus homers a year. Just take the road losses and light up everyone at home. Nothing else has worked.

A-teams and second strings

So I've been noticing lately how prominent Stitch has become in Disney marketing. In fact, I would venture to say he is on the verge of being elevated to the Disney Character A-team, something that hasn't happened in about, oh 60 years. For the sake of posterity, or something, I'm gonna try and rank the costumed Disney Charcters I have personally seen in the parks by importance.
Note- This list is not completely all-inclusive. It's just to give you an idea of how I percieve the Disney food chain.

First-string: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, maybe Pluto

Somewhere in between-Stitch. I think Disney's trying to make a big push to put Stitch in the all-time pantheon. Understandable I guess, seeing as how they haven't had another hit character in quite awhile. Why don't they make Princess movies anymore?

Second String- Princesses; specifically to include Snow White, Aurora, Belle, Cinderella Jasmine and Ariel. Includes Mulan if you're at the Chinese pavilion. Chip and Dale. Peter Pan and Tinkerbell. Buzz Lightyear. Alladin.

Third String- Lilo. Rafiki. Mulan anywhere else. Pocohatas. Prince Charming. The Evil Queen. Jafar. The Genie. Jiminy Cricket. Pinnochio.

Fourth String- Hercules. The Splash Mountain critters. Tarzan. Robin Hood. Alice. Dasiy Duck. Flik. Huey Dewey and Louie.

Fifth String- Baloo. Frollo. King John. Woody (Seems like he should be higher, but you never see him) The gargoyles. Mushu. Cruella DeVille.

Sixth String- Friar Tuck. The cat from Pinnochio. The crows from Dumbo (Really)

Sadly, no costumed character- Bill, the guy with a ladder. Ratcliffe.

Hmm, I think that covers it.

Rain Rain

Well we got a downpour here in Florida. In fact I got smacked in the face with a piece of tree bark on the walk over. Maybe we'll have a hurricane!
It is kind of funny the way people are freaking out over the rain.

Oh, heh heh. One of my room mates is getting kicked out. It seems he got failed on his externship so he's getting sent home. Its kinda lame, since he says they won't tell him why he got failed (I suspect he knows, he just isn't telling) but I'm glad. He had a penchant for blasting MP3s (only the first ten seconds or so, then he'd go to the next one....a real pet peeve of mine) and talking really loudly in the living room when I'm trying to sleep. So, good riddance.
