Misheard Lyrics

So, I heard "California Dreaming" on the radio the other day and reminded me of something from way back. Dad played that song alot when I was a kid, and I always thought the one line went this way-
"Stopped into a church, I passed a law on the way."
I remember thinking at the time that this was some comment on the influence of religion on modern politics. I guess that shows either I was pretty astute for an eight year old, or I was just faking it through the hearing tests at school.

Any favorite ones of yours?

Ben, this is your father.
Or, how about the next line? Remember how you used to think it went' "I got down on my knees, and I pretend to pray for deliverence from the suffication of religious persecution"?

A few years back Jesse informed me that the Metallica song is called "Sleep with one eye open" not "Secret one-eyed woman". I guess that makes more sense.

Emily's version of the Christmas classic "Here Comes Santa Claus" goes - Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus, write down Santa Claus's name.

Also, I've long ago realized its "Ain't no woman like the one I got" not "Ain't no woman like the one-eyed god"
Though mine is just as good.
